Did I mention a tea break? One of my favourite things about my last visit to Malta was that players won't play more than three rounds without taking a long break for tea or coffee. Today's schedule is 3-tea-3-dinner-2; tomorrow and Sunday it's a gruelling 2-tea-2-lunch-3-tea-2-dinner, letting us finish up early on Monday with a 2-tea-2-lunch-2-awards.

It hardly seems newsworthy, but Nigel Richards (MYS) won again this round with another 500 game, this time against Joanne Craig (AUS), 578-313. He is 4-0 and an impressive +917, ahead of Helen Gipson (Sco) who has only +247.

David Webb (Eng) and Terry Kirk (Eng) are the top two of seven players at 3-1, and with 28 rounds to go, everyone still has a chance.

In B, Joe Caruana (MLT) is the only undefeated player remaining, after a 330-303 win over Bronagh Kenny (IRL).
