Nigel Richards (MYS) played second seed Craig Beevers (Eng) at Board 1. Nigel traded GQTVZ keeping IR with eight in the bag to fish for a bingo. Craig, trailing by 154, set up a hook for a bingo beginning with an S in the triple lane, keeping CEEINS, which makes an unblockable seven (there was another lane) with any of CLOR, which accounted for 4/15 of the unseen tiles, and a blockable seven (in that other lane) with another 4/15, so it looked as though he could at least narrow the spread. Nigel kept Craig's hopes alive by playing off a P keeping RIVERS, a 6/14 bingo draw. Craig drew an N for a bingo, Nigel drew a T for a bingo to play out, an caught Craig ?GOQVZ on his rank to win 547-312.

Helen Gipson (Sco) played Sam Kantimathi (USA), beating him almost as great a margin, 496-272. Nigel is now 15-3 +2974, Helen 14-4 +970.

With Vincent Boyle (Sco) losing to Harshan Lamabadusuriya (Eng) and Joanne Craig (AUS) losing to David Delicata (MLT), we have a peloton of five players three games back at 11-7, composed of those four players together with David Webb (Eng), who beat Mihai Pantis (ROM).

In Division B, Jayne MacKenzie (Eng) beat Paula Docherty (Eng), Charles Micallef (MLT) beat Anna Borg (MLT), Annemarie Holland (MLT) beat Joe Caruana (MLT), and Mary Doyle (IRL) beat Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL), so the top four places remain unchanged at 15, 13, 12 and 11 wins.

Peggy Fehily (DEU) is continuing to dominate the top of the rating upset chart. This round, she defeated Bronagh Kenny (IRL), rated 542 points higher; last round she defeated Pawlu Frendo, her 613-point superior.
