Overheard Harshan Lamabadusuriya (Eng) saying someone played BEGLOVU, but not sure if it was in his game. I just misspelled Harshan's name just now (thank goodness for spelling correction); my fingers thought it was too short and added a letter.

The game everyone was interested in was the Helen Gipson (Sco)-Nigel Richards (MYS) rematch. After Helen opened MELDS, Nigel played ZEE/ME/EE# for 28, Helen made JO/ZO# for 36, Nigel made AI/ZOA for 14 (keeping EEILR), Helen extended to ZOARIA for 30, allowing Nigel to bingo RELiVED/ZOARIAL. If you haven't been keeping count, the Z tile contributed 70 points to the game's total score.

Two turns later, Nigel drew the other blank and bingoed with it right away: MUIsTING#. Helen replied with ARGOSIES to trail by only 45, but after two more bingoes for Nigel (ALOETICS# DONATARY#) to one for Helen (INTERVAL) she was down 122. The final score: 574-398. Nigel now has a one-game lead for the first time in the tournament.

Joanne Craig's (AUS) win over Vincent Boyle (Sco) keeps her a game behind Helen, in third place with 11-5; David Webb (Eng), Jojo Delia (MLT) and Vincent are in 4th-6th at 10-6.

In Division B, Jayne MacKenzie's (Eng) 11-game winning streak fell to #3 Annemarie Holland (MLT) in a rematch. Charles Micallef (MLT) had a chance to catch up, but his own 7-game winning streak was cut short by #4 Paul Mifsud (MLT), also in a rematch. Next round, Jayne and Charles face each other, giving Jayne a chance to end the second day with a comfortable two-game lead, or Charles a chance to overtake Jayne.
