Division A

Nigel Richards (MYS) beats Helen Gipson (Sco) 501-317 at Board 1, substantially increasing his odds of winning first prize, as well as Harshan Lamabadusuriya's (Eng) chances of winning second place. Someone mentions hearing a fat lady warming up her singing voice.

Harshan beat Theresa Brousson (MLT) 392-385 and still has a reasonable chance at second place.

Joanne Craig (AUS) lost to Sam Kantimathi (USA) 309-407 and gives Sam hope at winning some cash.

Nigel is now 23-5 +3722, Helen 21-7 +1336, Harshan 19-9 +1539, Joanne 17-11 -204, Theresa 16-12 +371 and Sam 15.5-12.5 +373 with four rounds left to play.

Harshan can't catch up to Nigel in four rounds because of the spread difference, so Nigel plays Helen next. If he wins, he'll be Gibsonized and Helen may play Harshan.

Meanwhile, Harshan plays Sam and Joanne and Theresa play lower ranked players with an outside chance of overtaking them.

Division B

Jayne MacKenzie (Eng) extends her winning streak to five games, beating Dominic Borg (MLT) 418-330.

Charles Micallef (MLT) extends his losing streak to four games, losing to Catalin Caba (ROM) 296-352.

With Sue Ball (Eng) beating Nicky Huitson (Eng) and Carmen Toscano (Eng) beating Mary Doyle (IRL), there are an amazing five players grouped at 17-11, eight games behind Jayne: Charles +1354, Sue +954, Catalin +390, Anna -13 and Nicky -51.
