In this round's annotated game, the second- and third-place players, Helen Gipson (Sco) and Cecil Muscat (MLT) play at Board 1. (They are stationed there because the pairings were based on Round 6 results, when Cecil was still in the lead.)

At Board 2, it's first-place Mikki Nicholson (Eng) vs. fifth-place Carmel Dodd (AUS); at Board 3, David Delicata (MLT) vs. Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA), and at Board 4, Theresa Brousson (MLT) vs. Vincent Boyle (Sco).

Cecil bingoes with each blank and follows up with natural ANTSIER, while Helen misses a couple of bingoes; Cecil wins 467-310 to move to first place. Mikki beats Carmel 416-397 and stays in first place. The only ones at 7-1 now are Mikki +695 and Cecil +688.

Chinedu beats David 474-407 and is now fourth. Theresa has an exciting last-minute 478-473 win over Vincent to move to third, and is off to see if he kept his racks so they can reconstruct and post the game. That's the second-highest loss of the tournament so far, behind Joe Caruana's (MLT) 474-518 to Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT) back in Round 4.

Time for the first tea break of the day.
