Marion Loewenstein (ISR) has won her first game, against Joe Caruana (MLT), 348-329. Joe got all the bingoes, got Marion scored well with the Z, then again playing 14a QI and following it up with 15a IT. There are now no winless players left in the event.

Philip Turner (Eng) is excited about scoring the fourth-greatest upset of the tournament, as an 1186-rated player beating 1777-rated Mohammad Sulaiman (ARE) 474-411. Philip bingoed SEDATES and GULLIES, as well as playing ZO/ZED with the Z on a TLS; Mohammad bingoed SEITIES# and double-doubled ENACTOR, but it wasn't enough.

Over at Board 1, David Delicata (MLT) and Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) were playing the annotated game. David too double-doubled ENACTOR, and also bingoed FOOTIES, GOONIER and ROSEATE to Chinedu's GETTINGS, for a 526-433 win, David's high score so far, and the most anyone has scored against Chinedu.

When Theresa Brousson (MLT) wins her second game against Helen Gipson (Sco) 489-435, that's enough for Theresa to take over first place from Chinedu, who's had it all day. They're both now at 16-5, Theresa +1766 to Chinedu's +994. Mikki Nicholson (Eng) is alone at 15-6, and Helen's loss means that there are now three players at 13-8: Helen, David Delicata (MLT) and Dan Sandu (ROM).
