EOSC 2011 Commentary: Round 28

[ ]

Go to: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, Round 4, Round 5, Round 6, Round 7, Round 8, Round 9, Round 10, Round 11, Round 12, Round 13, Round 14, Round 15, Round 16, Round 17, Round 18, Round 19, Round 20, Round 21, Round 22, Round 23, Round 24, Round 25, Round 26, Round 27, Round 28, Round 29, Round 30, Round 31, Round 32, After the Tournament.

Mikki Nicholson (Eng) and Helen Gipson (Sco) trade places this round, so at Board 1, Theresa Brousson (MLT) and Mikki face each other for a third time for this round's annotated game, while at Board 2, Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) plays Heln.

At Board 3, David Delicata (MLT), who could still conceivably catch up to THerea, plays Simon Gillam (Sco).

Theresa beats Mikki 407-371; Chinedu loses to Helen 396-456. Theresa now leads Chinedu by two games and 920 points, with four rounds to go, and likely ony needs two more wins to be Gibsonized for the first time.

Lunchtime! I sneak another plate of food out of It-Tokk, the hotel's Maltese buffet, and eat it in the tournament room while I edit photos. It is not clear to me what is specifically Maltese about the food, but it's okay. I have a string bean and some sort of shredded meat salad, which is interesting, and not bad; a deep-fried turkey cordon bleu that wasn't what I was expecting (the label helpfully said "turkey" in four languages, but gave no further description); a roll and a green salad. Not bad for hotel food.
