Three games left in a punishing ten-game schedule. Everyone is looking tired, staff, players and anxious friends and spouses waiting in the lobby. This round's annotated game will be slightly delayed, due to annotator issues.

In the annotated game at Board 1, it's Jojo Delia (MLT) vs. Mikki Nicholson (Eng). Mikki loses a second consecutive game for the first time, and her description of the game by the scoreboard was comical but not repeatable. Suffice it to say that Jojo won 472-348 despite losing two turns to challenged phonies.

Mikki stays in second place, but now only on spread. Worse for him, Evan Cohen (ISR) beat Kevin Synnott (Eng) 460-363, so Evan's now a game and a half ahead of Mikki.

Yi En Gan (DEU) had another blowout win, this time against Jayne Mackenzie (Eng), 493-385, and trails Mikki by 407 points.

Alone on 10-5, two and a half games behind Evan, is Carmel Dodd (AUS), after a 416-353 win over Helen Gipson (Sco).

Alone on 9½5½ behind Carmel is Jojo.

Cecil Muscat (MLT) beats Naomi Landau (ISR) 414-397 this round, pushing him into the lead in the "lucky stiff" category: he has won six games by a total of only 114 points.

In Division B, Margaret Armstrong (Eng) keeps on winning, and is now 14-1 +969, with a squeaker this round, 297-295 against Pawlu Frendo (MLT) that took a while to recount and report. A win is a win though, so she stays three games ahead of Jim Wilkie (Sco), who beat second seed Mary Morgan (IRL) 398-299. Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL) loses to Albert Zammit (MLT) 377-397, and falls to third place, four games back at 10-5 along with Maureen Hoch (ISR), Geoff Cooper (Eng) and Albert.

Geoff's 511-232 win over Pauline Cilia (MLT) has the highest spread in the division so far, 279.

Tsh has detected that the top contenders in Division B have played each other so often that they cannot be paired without repeats, so in the final round today, there will be repeats only at the top of this division.

Two more games to go today.
