The first result turned in this round is Chinedu Nosike Okwelogu's (NGA), who makes fast work of Vincent Boyle (Sco), 540-224, which is just two points short of the spread of the game between Mohammad Sulaiman (ARE) and Dan Sandu (ROM) in Round 3. It's also the lowest losing score so far in the A Division. Chinedu climbs at least temporarily from 11th to 8th on the scoreboard.

In the annotated game at Board 1, it's Simon Gillam (Sco) vs. Mikki Nicholson (Eng). Mikki starts and plays the bingo in ?ANOUUV, then follows it up right away with one of the ones in AELLRST, then FEWTER down the triple lane for 57 for an early lead of 190-73. Simon came back with the only other two bingoes in the game (IORSSTU, ?BEITTU), but drew the Q after the last one and couldn't quite come back.

Mikki is now 11-2 +1226, but Evan Cohen (ISR) wins at the next board against Mohammad Sulaiman (ARE) 439-407 to stay half a game back at 10½-2½ +554. Theresa Brousson (MLT), Yi En Gan (DEU) and Carmel Dodd (AUS) hold the pace at 9-4 with wins against Cecil Muscat (MLT), Kevin Synnott (Eng) and Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT), but Kevin's loss drops him out of that pack.

(Chinedu ends up in 6th place after all the games are in.)

In the B division, Margaret Armstrong (Eng) opens up a three-game lead over Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL), Jim Wilkie (Sco), Albert Zammit (MLT) and Geoff Cooper (Eng), 12-1 +878 to their 9-4s, with a close but important win over Paul Mifsud (MLT). At the bottom of the division, Marion Loewenstein (ISR) scores a third win, 345-331 against Linda Barratt (Eng), climbing out of the cellar. Four players are on 3-10: Judith Puttick (Eng), Carmen Borg (MLT), Marion and newcomer Lee Ann Tan (IRL).

Teatime!
