It's getting hot in here, partly because of all the spotlights ringing the atrium, but also because the mall is cooled by tropical air conditioning to the point where it feels cool when you come in from the sweltering heat outside, but not after you've been exerting yourself indoors for any length of time. I've drunk about 1.5L of fluids so far today, and still feel thirsty.

I went for a walk up the atrium escalators to look for overhead photo opportunities. Two levels up are several audiophile stores (Sony, Bang & Olufsen, etc.), the level above that is for conspicuous consumption of overpriced coffee products. There's a Starbucks there, and I feel a twinge of guilt about the green tea Frappucciono I had this morning, which cost the same as it does back home, and more than five times the price of a much tastier cha yen (Thai iced tea). (My excuse is that I knew I wouldn't have time for breakfast, and the Frappuccino would be much more filling.)

Ravee has finished entering the recorded game from Round 2 and posted it to the website. It was a thousand-point game at Board 1 between Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) and Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA).

Leading the team standings on average rank now are the New Zealand duo of Nigel Richards (NZL) and Liz Fagerlund (NZL), with a mean rank of 22.5 and a record of 5-3 (62.5% vs. others) between the them. The five-player team from Singapore is ahead on win average, 13-7 and 63.2%.

Christine Cartman (Eng) overcame a 2013-937 rating gap to defeat Charnwit Sukhumrattanaporn (THA) in a tight game 432-423 this round. So far, she has played opponents rated 1734, 1824, 2013 and 2014 and has a 2-2 record.

Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) wins another big game to stay at Board 1, 490-307 vs. Jason Katz-Brown (USA), pushing him to 4-0 +820. In distant second place now is Chollapat Itthi-aree (THA), 4-0 +395. Also still undefeated are Preedee Kongthanaran (THA), Komol Panyasophonlert (THA), Bob Jackman (AUS) and Odette Carmina Rio (PHL).
