Sam Kantimathi (USA) points out that Mihoko Terasaki (JPN) is wearing a ring with a Spear "M" tile on it, and that she is therefore overdrawing by at least one on every draw.

The undefeated Komol Panyasophonlert (THA) sits down to play Alastair Richards (AUS) in the annotated game at Board 1. They trade opening bingoes: Komol's PINKIES and Alastair's INFERNAL. Alastair's post-bingo draw includes the first blank; he fishes for a bingo: DEVAlUED. That gets him ALOTTXZ and a chance to play ZAX (80) for a 261-150 lead. Then Komol gets down VESTIGIA through an I to narrow the lead, then later in the game BEATiER# (83) across the top of the board, leaving seven in the bag and a 423-373 lead. But all is not lost for Alastair, who lays down ATONING (74) under the end of BEATiER for a 447-423 lead. Komol has CDIMRSU and Alastair BFLPSUW. Komol plays out in two to remain undefeated and give Alastair the second-highest loss of the tournament.

Odette Carmina Rio (PHL) beats Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA) and is the only other player who has not lost any games today. She stays two games behind Komol, and now a game ahead of Charnrit and 1½ games ahead of Daniel Srichawla (THA).
